This accessibility statement applies to the custom features of the Teaching Unit Management System. i.e., the pop-up window which appears whenever you select the following functions:
- Distant Hierarchy Check – from within the Programme of Study screen
- Import Stage Links – from within the Programme of Study list screen
- Import Strand Links – from within the Programme Stage list screen
- Import Co-Owning Departments – from within the Programme of Study list screen
- Orphan Record Check – from within the Programme Stage and Programme Strand list screens
This pop-up is run by The University of Oxford. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this part of the system and so we have tried to allow you to:
- Change colours, contrast levels and fonts
- Zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
- Navigate the pop-up using just a keyboard
- Navigate most of the pop-up using speech recognition software
- Listen to most of the pop-up using a screen reader
Our Aims
The University of Oxford is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
In order to ensure that all of our visitors can use our website, these pages aim to meet Level-AA standard of WCAG 2.1.
Preparation of This Statement
This statement was prepared in 16th December 2021 and was last reviewed on 8 January 2024.
Compliance
We are aware that the system is not fully accessible and falls short of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 AA standard with the following issues affecting its full compliance:
- It has duplicate HTML IDs on the ‘Import Stage Links’ and ‘Import Strand Links’ pages (WCAG 4.1.1 Parsing: ID attribute values must be unique).
- The file import button on the ‘Import Stage Links’ and ‘Import Strand Links’ does not have a label within the HTML code (WCAG 4.1.2 Name, Role, Value: Form <input> elements must have labels).
- Zooming beyond 500% can cause some text to spill off the screen requiring you to scroll across to see the full wording (WCAG best practice: Users should be able to zoom and scale the text up to 500%).
- It does not contain any level 1 HTML headings tags (WCAG best practice: Page must contain a level-one heading).
How Was This Tested?
The system was tested for accessibility issues by the Teaching Unit Management System project team using the automated tool ‘axe DevTools – Web Accessibility Testing’.
How Will We Approve Accessibility?
We will do our best to ensure the issue above are fixed in order to comply with accessibility standards.
