Timeline and summary of University surveys
See the surveys homepage for a spreadsheet that provides a summary of the range of surveys, opening and closing times.

The University undertakes several student surveys to provide current students with an opportunity to have their say about Oxford. Results are used to identify strengths and weaknesses and to put in place changes to help improve the student experience at Oxford.

A summary of the findings of each survey is provided to Education Committee and Senior Tutors' Committee and other relevant committees based on the students included in the survey sample, and the Oxford University Student Union also receives reports through membership of these committees. Detailed data are distributed to specific central services, academic division offices, and to colleges, to disseminate and review as appropriate.

Departments and faculties also carry out surveys on individual courses, and use lecture questionnaires to gain feedback on the quality of lectures. The views of students are represented by undergraduate and postgraduate Joint Consultative Committees (JCC). Colleges collect feedback from students through tutorial evaluation questionnaires, college questionnaires, students and Tutors/College Advisers meetings, and annual meetings between students and their Senior Tutor and/or Head of House.

The Student Surveys Operational Group (SSOG) meets once a term to coordinate student surveys and plan for future changes.

The Student Surveys Steering Group (SSSG) meets once a term to consider the strategy for student surveys at Oxford and is chaired by the Academic Registrar.

Students can read about the range of surveys running throughout the academic year and see survey results and outcomes on the Oxford Student Surveys website. Feedback from the surveys and improvements are also communicated to students through the regular Student News.

The SSSG (Student Surveys Steering Group) is looking at ways to improve this feedback loop including a ‘you said, we did’ format to provide further examples to students of how survey results are used.
